FINALLY DONE with August's Clever Creation!

I finally finished my altered puzzle!  I really did not think that this was going to be the time consuming project that it turned out to be, but I am so happy with the end result!

The last time I told you about this project I had managed to cover all of the pieces with scrapbook paper and decided that I would make my life monumentally more difficult by having all of the pieces link to each other with a line or shape.

I came up with an initial layout of various things that could link to each other, but soon realized that I would need to change some because of the orientation and size of the puzzle pieces.

I made several copies of the finished puzzle and reworked the arrangements to work with the size and shape of the pieces.  I then began to create the different vignettes on each puzzle piece using scrapbook paper, watercolor paper, stamp cutters, and pens.

To make sure that I got the sizes correctly, I would trace the outline of the upside down puzzle piece on the backside of the scrapbook or watercolor paper that I wanted to use for my vignette.  This ensured that there were no visible pencil lines on the finished puzzle, but I did have to keep reminding myself to draw the mirror image of what I wanted.

I watercolored a few of the images: a monster, some mountains, a car, and a fish.

For other images I used a variety of scrapbook paper and then incorporated the details with pens and colored pencils.  In a few instances I used blank paper and used colored pencils to bring in the color.

Once everything was cut out, I went about gluing everything down using Mod Podge.

I sanded the edges of each piece to make sure that each vignette fit within the piece and for interest.

I put the puzzle together and did some finishing line work and making sure that all of the elements were outlined so that they stood out more.  After all, it is a rather busy puzzle.

I finished everything off with a few splashes of glitter because everyone needs a little glitter!

I am quite please with the finished puzzle even though it did take considerably longer than I anticipated.

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with my finished puzzle yet, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.
