MAST Tour 2014 Part 2

In starting Part 2 I realized that my title is redundant because MAST stands for McKinney Artists Studio Tour...hmm...McKinney Artists Studio Tour Tour 2014 Part 2, yep, that's some good grammar there.  Ah well, for the sake of consistency we'll stick with my improper English and move on to our second set of artists.

"MAST 2014 Funky Junky 1" - McKinney, Texas
Let's start with Sandi Dinehart the creator of Funky Junky.
"MAST 2014 Funky Junky 2" - McKinney, Texas
Sandi creates these fun pieces of jewelry that combine antique or vintage pieces with beads, beautifully rusted more industrial pieces, and whatever other goodies she can find.
"MAST 2014 Funky Junky 3" - McKinney, Texas
She has some big tools in her studio that I really wanted to get my hands on.  I managed to talk myself down...for now.
"MAST 2014 Funky Junky 4" - McKinney, Texas
Sandi also had a painting area set up in her studio where guests on the tour could create a piece of art for themselves.
"MAST 2014 Art House 1" - McKinney, Texas
"MAST 2014 Art House 2" - McKinney, Texas
Now let's move on to three potters from the McKinney Art House.
"MAST 2014 Pink Cloud Pottery 1" - McKinney, Texas
Sona Knox, our first potter, opened the McKinney Art House in 2005 as a place where artists could come and take or teach classes, as well as rent studio space.
"MAST 2014 Pink Cloud Pottery 2" - McKinney, Texas
Under the name Pink Cloud Pottery, Sona creates these amazing pieces that combine the soft beauty of nature with hard industrial metal elements.
"MAST 2014 Pink Cloud Pottery 3" - McKinney, Texas
She also has a series of what she call plates which appear to be a combination of impression from metal signs and decorative sculpting.  Again, it's that playful combination of man-made and natural.
"MAST 2014 Pink Cloud Pottery 4" - McKinney, Texas
Sona is also a painter and a teacher.  I fell in love with her golden retriever, who had had all the fun he could handle and just wanted to take a nap.
"MAST 2014 Marissa Shipp 1" - McKinney, Texas
Marissa Shipp joined the Art House in 2011 when she became one of the studio artists.
"MAST 2014 Marissa Shipp 2" - McKinney, Texas
I love the texture in Marissa's pieces. This vase looks like lace.  And the color...Love!
"MAST 2014 Marissa Shipp 3" - McKinney, Texas
She creates pieces that you want to pickup and manhandle, as much as you want them on display to look at and enjoy.
"MAST 2014 Magda Dia 1" - McKinney, Texas
The final artist that I got to see is Magda Dia.  Magda is a teacher at the Art House and has created a program called Jump Into Art.
"MAST 2014 Magda Dia 2" - McKinney, Texas
She also creates these fun, brightly colored pots!

There are many artists that sadly I missed, but they include: Neal Ator, Lisa LaBarge, Jill Luigs, Alex Macias, Minda Macias, Steve Macias, J.B. Phipps, Kerry Randol-Johnston, Rachel Reitan, James Spurrier, Marc Truelove, and Carol Williams.
