heARTS for ART

I am helping out with a couple of great events which both happen to be taking place on February 8th.  We'll go in chronological order and I'll tell you about heARTS for ART today and the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra's performance of A Soldier's Tale tomorrow.
I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where charity work was just a given part of our life.  The whole family was always doing charity runs or walks and we participated in the Breast Cancer 3 Day for several years.  My father has been involved with and on the board of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for as long as I can remember.  Needless to say, I was very excited to be contacted by Peggy Schmidt with heARTS for ART.
heARTS for ART benefits Cook Childrens, specifically Acute Myeloid Leukemia Research, and this year will be the 4th annual Samantha Schmidt heARTS for ART Benefit and Silent Auction.  Sadly Peggy and her husband lost their 10 year old daughter Samantha to leukemia, but this brave little girl and her parents created heARTS for ART "so other kids don't get sick."
The Samantha Schmidt heARTS for ART Benefit and Silent Auction is being held at the Allen High School Performing Art Center on February 8th.  The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. ending at  6 p.m..  There will be family activities, arts and crafts, a silent auction, and several performances, featuring a concert by the Allen Philharmonic entitled Who Stole the Mona Lisa.  You can see some of the silent auction items, as well as a great deal of information on the event on their Facebook page.  If you are looking for some family fun on February 8th then consider going to heARTS for ART.
