Some Beautiful Music

While Saturday day was spent admiring gorgeous cars, which by the way I will have more of over the next week or two, the evening and night were spent enjoying some beautiful music.

This past weekend marked the first performance of the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra's 2015-2016 season.

Not only did I get to photograph the performance, but I also got a sneak peak of the orchestra's rehearsal.
While I see the value in an orchestra wearing a more subdued wardrobe.  It shows the musicians as a collective and limits the distractions.
However, I loved seeing the musicians in their street cloths because it really highlighted the versatile personalities that make up this talented organization.
Onto the performance...The season opened with a range of string only pieces with featured soloist Marina Dichenko.
They began with Anton Arensky's Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky.
Followed by Violin Concerto in A Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach.  Both very traditional works of musical genius.
After intermission they slowed things down with George Gershwin's Lullaby for String Orchestra.
And ended with a wonderfully jazzy number, Signs of Life II by Russell Peck.
The music was great, sadly there were also two other musical events that same night in McKinney, so the audience was small.  If you are interested in supporting the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra then check our their Upcoming Performances page for more information about their February, April, and May shows.
