The American Prize focuses on "celebrating American excellence in the arts." Founded in 2009, the American Prize consists of several competitions that reward the best in the performing arts.
Orchestral Performance, professional orchestra category. This prize is particularly special considering that the first place orchestra was founded in 1964 and the second place orchestra is currently in its 69th season. In contrast the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra is quite young. The Odysseus Chamber Orchestra includes a mentor program which brings talented, high school musicians into the professional orchestra world.
The Orchestra also provides free concerts for the public, including this year's February 27th performance at the McKinney Performing Arts Center.
