A Sad Day Indeed: Goodbye to Muhammad Ali

The world's pool of inspirational people has taken a major hit with the passing of Muhammad Ali. We've lost many talented individuals so far this year and it is always a sobering moment when someone of such strength and courage leaves this world.

I don't like boxing and never have, I was born after the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and after the end of the Vietnam War, so why did the death of Muhammad Ali turned me into blubbering mess? Because I remember watching the 1996 Olympics when Ali took the final torch and sent the Olympic flame to the cauldron. He was already dealing with Parkinson's disease, but this man who had been revered for his physical abilities and imposing physic chose again to stand when many others would have hidden. I was blown away by his bravery to show the world his "weakness" which was truly an example of his great strength. My deepest sympathies to Muhammad Ali's family and friends, and the world for the loss of this "Humble Mountain."
