The Watchdog

Saturday McKinney held a dedication for the latest piece of art erected in the downtown area.  “The Watchdog” was commissioned to “honor the men and women in uniform who watch over us and protect us.”

The Texas limestone piece was created by Jake Dobscha, whose work can be seen throughout the area, including “Wise Owl” outside the McKinney Chamber of Commerce offices.  “The Watchdog” is guarding the new construction at the end of Hunt Street.  Don Day commissioned the piece as a thank you to local police, fire, and service people.
They mayor and committee members from the McKinney Fire Department, Police Department, and Armed Services were all invited to the dedication.
The sweet, but stoic face of the dog speaks to an inner strength tempered with compassion that we want and need in those that protect and serve.
